God Always Has A Plan
"and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."
-- Genesis 22:18
We never know when our actions may impact on someone else down the line. In this case, Abraham did what God told him to do so God responded by blessing Abraham and his descendants abundantly.
I'd like to think I could do what Abraham did. His faith was so strong and I want to have faith like that. But could I take my child and prepare to sacrifice him because God told me to? Abraham knew God had a plan. See, God gave Isaac to Abraham when Abraham was 100 years old. He knew God wouldn't give him the heir God had promised and then take that son away. God keeps His promises. He didn't know how God would work it all out, but Abraham knew He would. And He did.
That's the thing that amazes me. Abraham trusted God. He couldn't see God's plan but he knew it was there. And he understood that God's plan would only benefit him.
I love that song Randy Travis sings, titled "Three Wooden Crosses." Have you heard it? The three crosses are beside the road where a bus and an 18-wheeler collided. God took the preacher, the teacher and the farmer but he left the prostitute. As he was dying, the preacher handed his "blood-stained bible" to the prostitute. That women became the mother of a preacher.
Don't you know that if that song were real life we'd all be questioning why God would take the folks doing good with their lives and leave behind the other. But God always has a plan. He knows what he's doing. I want to feel His Spirit fill me. I want to trust God with everything. I want to step out in faith, no matter what He calls me to do.
