Jesus is The One Constant

"And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." -- Joel 2:32a

The news headlines are filled with photos of oil as it destroys marshes and a way of life. We see images of the victims of earthquakes and the smoldering ruins of plane crashes. All around us is destruction and devastation. It seems as if nothing is certain. And, really, that is true.

Except for this one thing: That we can always call on the name of Jesus Christ and He will be there, no matter the circumstances that surround us.

It is the one thing that unites us, no matter our country, language, color or economic status. We are saved by belief in Him. We are Christians who welcome His love and presence into our hearts and our lives. He always understands. And He always answers us, whether we call His name in joy and praise or whether we cry out in pain and suffering.

We can't control earthquakes and all the storms that batter this earth. We can't seem to control the human errors that destroy the beauty and life of this beautiful planet God created. Nor can we keep from happening horrible tragedies that come when planes fall from the sky, trains derail or cars crash. But we can cling to His name and His promise of eternal life. We call out and there He is -- every time, no matter what the circumstances. He always hears our cry and offers the hope of eternal life to us all.
