Let God Handle Your Enemies
"However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you." -- Deuteronomy 23:5
Have you ever known a person who really wished bad things for you? Usually it comes from jealousy. Yeah. I figured you might have some experience with that. No matter how much we might try to get along with people, sooner or later we're going to encounter someone who doesn't like us at all.
Sometimes it's the co-worker who is willing to do or try anything to get ahead. He steals your ideas and claims them as his own. She spreads gossip about you and talks down to you and about you.
Oh, how we want to retaliate! An eye for an eye, we tell ourselves. We vow to take that knife sticking in our back and stick it in the back of our co-worker.
Wait! Take a deep breath. Pray.
Then there's the person who either wants your mate or thinks you want theirs. She's ugly to you when she visits the office even though you're only a co-worker. Or maybe he turns possessive, challenging when you speak to a former classmate.
You want to rush to your own defense. You want to put the accuser in his place. You want to lash out at the person responsible for your hurt and embarrassment.
Wait! Take a deep breath. Pray.
God has a better plan. He knows the accusations are untrue. He knows your heart. He will give you words .He will direct your actions. He will turn the harm intended for you by others into a blessing. Trust Him. Seek Him. Listen to Him. Then wait patiently for your blessing. It will come.
