Live Your Christianity
"Be wise in the way you act to outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversations be seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." -- Colossians 4:5-6
As we go about our daily lives, we represent Jesus in everything we do. It's not just that God is watching, though He is. It's because everyone else is watching too. How we behave, the words we use, how we respond to trials -- all these things and more show the world exactly what type of Christians we are.
We all know at least one person who is a Sunday Christian. You know the type. They are full of repentance and salvation joy on Sunday but they live their lives however they choose the rest of the week. In full view of others who may or may not be Christians, I might add.
Children watch and mimic our actions, whether those actions are right or wrong. We're an example to them. We try to watch our language. We try to use our manners. We try to remember them in all we do.
It's the same way we should view non-believers as we go about our life. They are watching what we do and how we act. They see if we rage at a fellow driver. They hear if we launch into a tirade at a salesperson. They notice if we forget to drop a quarter into the coffee fund. Why would they want to hear the gospel when they can see it so clearly in us?
Christianity isn't just something to proclaim with our tongues when we're in church. It's something we live with our actions. The Holy Spirit guides us in all we do -- if we can get out of the way and let Jesus live through us. Show others that being a Christian changes you -- inside and out.
