Fish For Souls
"Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you fish for people." -- Mark 1:17
Close your eyes for a minute. Imagine pulling your arm back and then throwing it forth with all the power you can muster. You want that line, with its bobbing cork, in just the right spot to maximize your chances to catch a lot of fish. You want to be successful, to be the one who brings back not just the most fish but also the largest.
Now imagine that you're putting the same effort into telling people about Jesus. You start each day in prayer and go forth with a Bible in your hand. You openly talk about Jesus to anyone and everyone, especially those who don't know Him. You want to be successful so that everyone, including those considered hopeless, can come to know Jesus.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to tell everyone about Jesus. We aren't called to be politically correct. Nor are we called to wait for others to ask for information. We don't have to be obnoxious (that just turns people away from Jesus) to live our faith openly and without apologies.
It's past time we stopped making excuses and started "fishing" out in the open. When we hide our faith, it's our fault. We have the power of Jesus living within us. We can do anything, including fish for souls.
