Peace Comes With Asking
"The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -- Philippians 4:7
Sometimes the frantic pace of life gets to be a little much. I know others must look at me and wonder what in the world I'm talking about. My life seems simple. Isn't that true for everyone? We always think everyone else has it easier or somehow has more hours in their day. Not so.
Small demands add up. Juggling jobs and businesses in a never-ending marathon to earn a living takes time and energy. People want pieces of each day. Most of the time I'm happy to share my time with family and friends. I'm grateful for every job I receive, whether it's painting another piece of furniture or heading off to anywhere to get someone the perfect Toyota for them.
When the demands seem to overwhelm me, I turn to God. And when it's a good day, I do this before I lash out in frustration. This verse is one that I keep in my mind and use frequently. I repeat it over and over as I seek His peace. I want my heart and my mind to be filled with His thoughts and His desires. I will my tongue to silence and breath deeply. His peace fills me. Once again I am grateful for the day and the demands that only bring good tidings.
