Do It Anyway

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
-- Philippians 3:13-14

Life can be tough sometimes. We try and try. We work hard. We follow the rules. And still it seems like we are mired in a sameness that never changes.

The reminders are everywhere. The struggle never ceases. The hurtful comments cut deep. And still you try. You get up every day and you work, you smile, you pretend. Life is good. Fine. No problems. But inside you're scared to death. You plead with God. Why? Why?

We are not promised an easy road. Just the opposite, actually. Our blessings are many, sometimes in ways we would never imagine. I am grateful for the ocean and sandy white beaches. I love the sun shining down, especially when a touch of fall is in the air. I am thankful for friends and a loving church family. So many blessings.

I cannot change what came before. I'd like to sometimes. Wouldn't we all? Most of us have made mistakes. But hopefully we grew from those mistakes. We're better people because of them. We pressed forward. God uses mistakes to make us more like Jesus. I am more compassionate because of some of the things I've been through. How about you?

My goal most days is to take one step forward, then another. That's all. Just go forward. I know that whatever this life deals me, I've got a wonderful home waiting on the other side. That's the purpose of this life. To do good. To help others. To honor and glorify God in all that we say and do. And then we go home. I can't wait. How about you?
