Jesus Is The Author of Miracles

"'If you can?' said Jesus. 'Everything is possible for him who believes.'
Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
-- Mark 9: 23-24

Sometimes I think I will always be in this place, forever hoping and searching for what will never be. I want to cling to the hope and promise that Jesus offers. I reach for it time and again. Then Satan rears up and shoots me down again. "Who am I," he laughingly taunts, "that God would reach down and lift me up."

I bow my head. Satan is right, I tell myself. Who am I to expect God to lift me out of this mess I created with my own bad choices? Who am I to expect anything beyond what I have now? Who am I to want love and acceptance where I have never had it before?

Yet, there He is. I see Him riding forth on that big white horse. He is shouting. I belong to Him. That is who I am. I am His. Therefore I can hope for changes I cannot see. I can wait for His miracle and His glory to shine on this seemingly endless situation.

I drop to my knees, begging for release from my moments of unbelief. I feel His peace wash over me. Once again He forces Satan from my mind and leaves His hope behind. Anything is possible. He is, after all, the author of the impossible. And I belong to Him.
