Jesus Prays For Us
"My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one." -- John 17:15
I believe in prayer. I know that it works. God Hears. God responds. He always answers our prayers.
We are told to pray for each other. But it totally blows my mind that Jesus prayed for us. He knew we would need God to protect us so Jesus asked Him to do so. Just one more piece of evidence that we belong to Him.
Can you imagine the power in that prayer? I just can't wrap my mind around it. I know God answers my prayers but those prayers seem so insignificant compared to the prayers spoken by Jesus.
At one point in my life I felt so distant from God. It seemed as though Satan was everywhere, tempting me and pulling me in a direction I didn't want to go. I prayed for God to make Satan leave me alone. It was a child's prayer, a plea to a loving Father. And you know what? It worked. God did make Satan leave me alone. His peace filled me almost immediately and the temptation went away.
As I reread this Bible passage, I believe that Jesus prayed with me that day. Can you image Jesus kneeling down beside you and praying with you and for you? It sends shivers through me to know that's exactly what He did for me.
Jesus loves us. He died for us. And even now He prays for us. That is just so very, very awesome.
