Jesus Is All That Matters
"There is one body and one spirit -- just as you were called to one hope when you were called -- one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." -- Ephesians 4:46
We had something glorious happen at our church recently. The preacher baptized a baby boy and presented him to the congregation. Pastor Gary made it clear that Colson isn't just part of our church or even our denomination. He is part of the body of Christ. He is part of all of us and we are all responsible for helping and guiding this precious child.
It's just so silly how different denominations squabble over things that really aren't important. What is important? John 3:16. Do you believe Jesus is God's son? Do you believe He came to this earth as a man and lived a sinless life? Do you believe He died a cruel death on the cross as He took all our sins upon Himself? Do you believe He rose three days later and now sits at God's right hand? Then you believe what's important.
It really doesn't matter how you were baptized because no amount of water will get you into heaven if you don't accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. It doesn't matter what your political party affiliation is because they don't check for it at the Golden Gate. God also doesn't care what color your skin happens to be, which is going to surprise an awful lot of people one day.
Too bad we Christians get so caught up in our human games that we can't see what really matters. We fuss and feud so much it's a wonder anyone wants to hear about Jesus and the gift of salvation He offers. Shame on all of us for losing focus of what's really important.
