"I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." -- Isaiah 41:13
Have you ever known what to do -- but were terrified to do it? Yeah, me too. I still remember stepping off that plane in Birmingham and feeling totally panicked at what I'd done. All my belongings were in a moving van headed across the country and I'd returned to a state I hadn't seen in three years. It amazes me even now that I didn't turn right around and board the next plane headed west.
It turned out to be a good move in many ways. I faced a lot of surprises, many of them unpleasant and life-changing. I wouldn't have come had I known what waited. God knew that. It's why He never told me what I'd encounter. But you know what? He held my hand during the entire journey. He never let go. And on those days when I couldn't seem to stand, he held me up. He strengthened me until I could stand on my own again.
Uncertain days are part of life. It's wonderful to know that when the journey gets scary and uncertain, that we have God's steady hand holding on to us and helping us along the path.
