"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." -- Matthew 11:28-30
Life really gets out of hand sometimes. Commitments bind us into knots of tension. Illness, whether our own or that of a loved one, sends our carefully ordered lives into a topsy-turvy mess of emotions. Cars break down. Dishwashers overflow. Laundry piles up -- again.
As the bumper sticker saying goes, life happens. It's such a relief to know God is there, calmly waiting as we struggle to control the turmoil around us. As we sink further and further under the weight of overwhelming tension and despair, we reach out, He takes hold, lifting us up and securing us tighly to His side. For He is strong, though we are weak. He is all-knowing, though we are filled with uncertainty. He is a safe harbour amidst the turmoil. In Him we find peace and rest no matter what life brings.
