My concern is not whether God is on my side. My great concern is to be on God's side. -- Abraham Lincoln
Sometimes we focus so much on bending God's will to our own that we forget that He knows what's best. He sees the big picture, so to speak, and knows what the future holds for all of us.
We tell God what we want. We want a new job. We want rain. We want sun. We want health and wealth and all the things our hearts' desire. But just as we wouldn't give a small child a bag of candy, we shouldn't expect God to give us everything we want just because we want it. So many times I've been grateful that He ignored what I thought I wanted.
We live in a fallen world. Sin is everywhere, no matter how good our intentions might be. Illness, death, poverty -- those are all part of this fallen world. God is our light and our hope. Our Creator. Our Father. It is when we do His will that true peace comes.
