Cherish Every Day
When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. -- Psalm 104:9-30
Every breath we take comes from God. Every moment of time is a gift of life from our Creator. He is our strength, our sustainer, our life-giver. We are everything with Him and nothing without Him.
Sometimes we take our days for granted. Most days we do. We assume safety and security, health and well-being for ourselves and those we care about. Then something happens. A car wreck. A sudden illness. A job cut. A death. Then we remember how fragile our days really are.
We turn to our Father, hiding our faces in His loving arms. He listens to our fear and hurt with kindness and compassion. He strengthens us for the journey. We are His and He never leaves us alone, no matter the circumstances.
Take a moment this day to thank God for creating you. Thank Him for this day and all the days that came before. And ask Him to walk with you wherever the moments of this day may take you. We are all just dust without Him. With Him we are renewed and filled with hope, at peace with whatever comes. Certain that His strength will carry us through.
