Live Your Faith Out Loud
"When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, 'Who is this?' The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." -- Matthew 21:10-11
Today is Palm Sunday. The week begins in triumph as Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey. People spread cloaks and palm branches on the road. The crowd cheered and proclaimed 'Hosanna in the highest!'
Of course, in a few short days things would change dramatically. This same crowd would call for Jesus to be crucified. And He would be. He died for us. But on this day, the world celebrated a man that many thought was a prophet. Few, if any, fully understood He truly was and is the Son of God.
We do that sometimes. Oh, we don't call for Jesus to die. But we deny Him just the same. Not me, you say. Oh, yeah, I say.
Think about it. How many times have you taken credit for something that was really God's doing? How many times have you kept your Christianity silent? How many times have you acted as though Jesus doesn't live inside you? I could go on and on. Every time we miss an opportunity to give God glory, we've denied Jesus and everything He did for us.
As we enter this week of sorrow that will end in celebration, I want to renew my commitment to live my faith out loud. Jesus died for me. He lives in me. I want to proclaim that to the world each and every day.
